April Wonders

This is the first year my front garden hosted the Canadian native Pasque flower. On April 3rd, I went looking for it and fuzzy looking heads were poking up.

It surprised me that it opened a few days earlier than the bloodroot. Both are such delicate specimens.

So happy with the Jack-in-the-pulpits and Prairie Smoke in the back. I got a bit of a thrill to see them coming; I thought they might not have made it through the tough winter. The big red trillium bloomed April 28.

I gathered some moss from Caroline's property, hoping it will help me create a bonsai corner. Also a few trout lilies to keep the red trillium company.
