Book Club AGM - 2023

We've been getting together for the AGM since 2006, and together as a book club for almost 20. Pretty amazing!

There has been a core group of members through the years, but some have come and gone. One of the early members, Judy, passed away this year. Although she hadn't been to the AGM for awhile, we all felt her absence. We've decided to plant a tree in her memory.

Over the years of a certain sequence of events has taken shape, adding to the yearly rituals. This year the Saturday festivities became a bit hectic, so there is talk of moving some of the agenda to include Friday nights. It is interesting to see how things and dynamics in the group have evolved over the years. Early days were pretty rowdy with an excess of wine and food, now we drink less and have included an annual visit to Haliburton's thrift shops as part of the itinerary. We used to meet in May, now it is June when the lake is more swimmable. One thing is constant - none of the AGMs would have been possible without Nicki hosting. I think she may be the glue that binds us together.

Looking forward to next year's books and discussions.
